About me
I am now in the third year of my Landscape Architecture MLA at the University of Sheffield. I have learnt many new things, ranging from general masterplanning to mm specific construction drawing. I chose the BSc course for the bachelors component of the MLA as it focuses on Landscape ecology and it was definitely the right choice. My ecology module is a close contender to be my favourite so far, just behind my construction module.
Zoo design is relatively new to me but I have learnt a huge amount very quickly as Jonathan is very good at explaining the processes. Twycross Zoo was the first zoo that I went to and it is brilliant to have now been doing some work on Twycross. I’d even say it is my ‘home’ zoo. Compared to my first visit, I now have a new set of goggles on and I notice much more. This is just one of the many perks of understanding zoo design!
The exhibit that inspires me most are the Tiger Lodges at West Midlands Safari Park. The site used to be a rubble-filled dumping yard for left over bits and bobs. It is now a wonderful place for tigers and a acts as a great human-tiger interface.
Outside of landscape architecture, I enjoy rock climbing, board games, the occasional computer game, and a good stroll in the Peak District. I used to play a lot more computer games and have built multiple pcs, which was good fun each time. I would like to give basketball a go but we will see if that dream ever comes into reality.
